SOLUTION - SOLAR POWERED LANTERNS

The people in these portraits were all lit with solar powered lanterns that they own. Living in a slum in Lucknow, India, they lack electricity which means most activities end by sundown. Sometimes they connect to existing electrical power grids which is both illegal and extremely dangerous as the make-shift connections can cause electrocution. Pollinate Energy is an organization that has been bringing solar powered lanterns to slums in different parts of India. The lights enable cooking, doing homework and other activities after dark while also removing a small amount of demand from the coal powered electrical grid.
